NALCO Gears Up for Grand Viswakarma Puja 2025 Celebrations at Angul
Angul, Odisha | September 2025:
National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), one of India’s largest integrated aluminium producers, is preparing to celebrate Viswakarma Puja 2025 with great enthusiasm across all its facilities. This annual festival, dedicated to Lord Viswakarma – the divine architect and craftsman – has long been a highlight of the company’s cultural calendar, particularly at its Angul smelter and NALCO Nagar township.
Significance of Viswakarma Puja for Industry
Viswakarma Puja holds a special place in the hearts of workers, engineers, and artisans across India, especially in manufacturing and heavy industries. As the “Architect of the Gods,” Lord Viswakarma is regarded as the patron of all craftsmen, engineers and architects. In industries such as aluminium production, where technology, precision and skill go hand in hand, the festival serves as a symbolic reminder of the importance of tools, machinery and human ingenuity.
At NALCO, which employs thousands of people across Odisha and other states, the celebration is more than a religious ritual. It is an occasion to express gratitude for the machines, tools and technologies that enable production, and to reaffirm the company’s commitment to innovation, safety and excellence.
“NALCO celebrates Viswakarma Puja 2025 at Angul and NALCO Nagar with rituals, cultural events and safety drives, blending tradition with industry spirit.”
Schedule and Key Highlights
According to the traditional Hindu calendar, Viswakarma Puja in 2025 falls on September 17. NALCO has planned week-long activities from September 17 to September 23, with major events at its Angul unit and NALCO Nagar. Workshops, operational units and administrative offices will also host puja rituals on the designated day.
Employees have already started preparations to decorate workshops, clean machinery and arrange for the rituals. Machinery, tools and workspaces are expected to be adorned with flowers, banana stems, colourful rangoli and lighting. As is customary, production units observe special prayers for safe operations and continued prosperity.
The highlights of the celebration include:
- Central Puja at NALCO Nagar, Angul: The main event where prayers will be offered to Lord Viswakarma by company officials, employees and their families.
- Decorating Tools and Machinery: All units will participate in cleaning and decorating tools, equipment and vehicles before offering prayers.
- Cultural Programmes and Community Feasts: Employees and their families are preparing cultural shows, bhajans (devotional songs) and community meals to mark the occasion.
- Safety and Welfare Drives: Alongside festivities, management plans to run awareness campaigns on workplace safety and welfare schemes.
A Festival of Unity
For NALCO’s workforce, Viswakarma Puja is also a festival of unity. From senior executives to contract workers, everyone participates in the rituals, creating a sense of belonging and mutual respect. The company has traditionally used the occasion to recognise the contributions of its workforce and to strengthen the bond between management and employees.
Company officials said the festival also serves as an opportunity to review and reinforce safety practices. With large numbers of workers and heavy machinery involved in aluminium production, NALCO places high importance on safety training, and Viswakarma Puja provides a natural platform to communicate these values.
Linking Tradition with Responsibility
This year’s Viswakarma Puja at NALCO is expected to blend tradition with social responsibility. Apart from the rituals, the company is planning tree-planting drives, cleanliness campaigns around workshop areas and welfare activities for employees’ families. Such initiatives reflect a growing trend in industrial townships to link festivals with sustainability and community welfare.
