iPhone 17 Series Unveiled at Apple Event 2025 – New Features, Pre-Order Dates & Pricing
Apple’s tagline for its September 9, 2025, event—“Awe Dropping”—was no mere tease. Held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino at 10 AM PT (10:30 PM IST), the keynote heralded a bold new chapter for Apple’s flagship product line.
A Full-Fledged iPhone 17 Lineup
At the heart of the event was the iPhone 17 series, comprising four distinct models: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
iPhone 17 (Standard)
The regular iPhone 17 now sports a 6.3-inch OLED display with dazzling 120 Hz ProMotion and always-on capabilities. It introduces a 24 MP front camera and an A19 chipset under the hood. Base storage and pricing remain ever-competitive—starting at ₹89,900 (~$800).
iPhone 17 Air
Replacing the former Plus model, the Air is a marvel of engineering—just 5.5 mm thin, with a featherlight titanium–aluminum body, and comes with a single-lens 48 MP rear camera and a larger 6.6-inch display. Though ultralight, it still delivers modern performance via the A19 chip, and dazzles with exclusive colors like black, gold, and light blue.
iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max
Pro users won’t feel left behind. The Pro models tout a bold horizontal camera bar with triple 48 MP rear sensors, up to 8× optical zoom, and 8K video recording. These models also switch to lighter aluminum frames, integrate Wi-Fi 7, and pack A19 Pro chipsets, 12 GB RAM, and expanded battery life—especially in the thicker Pro Max. Plus, base storage jumps to 256 GB for Pro models, keeping pace with rising performance demands.
Software: Liquid Glass & iOS 26
Alongside hardware, Apple formally introduced iOS 26, its year-based OS nomenclature, bringing cohesive updates across iPhone, iPad, Mac, watchOS, and more. The highlight: the Liquid Glass UI, a fluid and glass-like interface that adapts with ambient light—Apple’s boldest visual refresh in years.
Accessories & Ecosystem Enhancements
Hardware updates didn’t stop at iPhones. Apple also unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 11, a refreshed Watch Ultra 3, and AirPods Pro 3, possibly with health sensors integrated. The event also hinted at an expansion of the Apple Intelligence AI suite.

The Big Picture
The “Awe Dropping” event was a masterclass in product refresh. Not only did it usher in Apple’s thinnest-ever phone, the iPhone 17 Air, but it also brought cutting-edge display tech to the entire iPhone lineup, substantial performance boosts, and a modern UI that unifies visuals across Apple devices with Liquid Glass. Complemented by updated watches and earbuds and a smarter OS, Apple made a compelling argument for upgrading—or jumping aboard for the first time.
