Family of Three Killed in Keonjhar Road Accident Today
A tragic road accident took place today on August 6 in Jagmohanpur area under Telkoi police limits of Keonjhar district Odisha
A speeding truck hit a motorcycle from behind on National Highway 49. The motorcycle was carrying a family of three including Tanka Patra his wife and their eleven year old daughter. All three were thrown off the bike due to the strong impact and then the truck ran over them again. They died on the spot.
The family belonged to Bahadapashi village in Deogarh district and was on their way to a relative’s house when the accident happened.
After the incident the truck driver tried to flee the spot. However the vehicle was stopped at Janasanpur toll gate a few kilometers away. The police have seized the truck but the driver managed to escape.
Local residents gathered at the site and blocked the highway in protest. They expressed their anger over repeated road accidents in the area and demanded proper road safety measures and speed controls to avoid such incidents in the future.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem and the police have started an investigation. Efforts are on to catch the truck driver who is absconding.
This accident has shocked the local community and raised serious concerns about road safety on national highways especially in rural areas where proper traffic monitoring is often lacking.
